Sub: Withdrawal of
Legal Tender Character of existing Rs500/- and Rs1,000/-
Bank notes-Reg
It has
been came to the notice of this union, that Head Post Office and Sub Post offices were identified as agencies through which the members of
public and other entities will be exchanging the Withdrawn Old Series banknotes
i.e.,Rs500/- and Rs.1000/-. In this connection the following immediate action
may kindly be taken for smooth
functioning of the implementation of the scheme introduced by the Ministry of
Finance.
1. Single
handed and Double Handed Post offices are functioning with one SPM only due to
acute shortage of staff in the division
for a long time. It is very difficult
to manage the
above work apart from their regular duties.
Hence additional staff may be provided
to
take care of additional work load as
directed by the Department of Posts vide
S.B.Order
No. 12/2016 dated 08.11.2016.
1.
Two armed Police protection should be provided at every
post office even at overnight if
required.
3. There may be
more chances of presenting fake currency not working Hence
Latest Fake
Currency detecting cum counting machines may
be supplied, immediately to all the offices.
4. Specific counter hours may be notified to avoid inconvenience
to regular Post office
Customers.
5. Sufficient cash may be supplied to all the sub
offices.
6. Request slip for exchange of banknotes may be
supplied to all offices.
7. Detailed accounting procedure may please be intimated
and supplied to offices.
8. Information boards about exchange of currency notes
may be supplied to all the offices for
Displaying and
for information to the public.
9. Control Room may be formed at Divisional Office level
to clarify the doubts and to
resolve the
problems if any while implementing the scheme.
Unless above requirements
are not provided implementation of the scheme will not be successful and run smoothly.
Early action is highly solicited.
